1. What are you planning on using it for

Do you just want to print regular size paper or large format? Are you wanting to print just flyers, spreadsheeets and the like or do you want better quality than that.
For just regular printing there are several 600-1200 dpi printers around for $300 or less if you find a sale. Large format printing to print like posters and things like that are a bit more-you're looking at $2000 and up. Laser photo quality printers are not cheap at all.
