let our cats sleep upstairs with us they'd start walking on our faces at 5,6,7 a.m., often a mere 2 hours after we'd gone to bed. It was just sooo hard getting up with them at the crack of dawn just to open a can of food (dry kibbles that we coulud leave out wouldn't suffice, it HAD to be FRESHLY OPENED moist food). So, we set up fancy beds for each of them, plus their own food and water dishes for each cat (there are three) and restrict them to the downstairs rooms at night.
Sometimes if I get up at 6 or 7am for water or whatever I'll bring the cuddliest one up, though, give him his favorite food and wait for him to come and snooze by my side.
