1. Courage, it won't last forever
Reactions to loss range from a sort of grief-filled inactivity all the way to anger and suspicion. This is normal and to be expected. After all, this wasn't an armchair election. People invested their hearts and minds and a little piece of their souls in defeating * and electing Kerry.

We are now in the bitter harvest season. Congress has adjoined for the year. We have the contested Ohio results and that is not a happy event. That is the extreme ugliness of possible fraud (which is, I think, treason) and the realization that *'s reign might go on for awhile. People tend to turn on their own after, to coin a phrase, such a series of unfortunate events.

Some people are reacting bitterly to Kerry in very personal terms. Again, this is to be expected. It's kind of like saying, "How dare you make us care! How dare you not win!" Some people will go to ridiculous ends on this and that's how you get all the weird conspiracy sillinesses. (He didn't really want to win, it was Skulls and Bones, etc.) This too shall pass.

Remember a couple of weeks ago when Yahoo posted the pics of Kerry at the soldiers funeral in Arlington National Cemetery? Hundreds of people on DU and at Kos replied to those pics in generally (90%) positive ways. There was pride that what he did was right, wistful sadness because Kerry would be a better Pres than * and so forth. That was an outpouring of emotion. Trust those things as well. It's there, it's just a bit muted right now. When Congress reconvenes and it is time for action again, people will shake off the grumbles. Hang in there, friend, I got your back for this dour season.
