Larry Johnson and Karl Rove's mother

"We will f**k him. Do you hear me? We will f**k him. We will ruin him. Like no one has ever f**ked him." –(Karl Rove)to an aide about some political stratagem in some state that had gone awry and a political operative who had displeased him

What does the quotation "Karl is a shameless bastard. This could explain why his mother killed herself. Once she discovered what a despicable soul she had spawned she apparently saw no other way out" do, exactly:

It beats up Karl using the truth of his mother's suicide in a heartless way.

It also brings Karl Rove out of the "mystique of the untouchable evil genius".

It shocks you - it makes you see Karl Rove as an overweight person scarred by his mother's tragic death.

It shows him as merely human, not infallible. Grief has touched him. Hate has twisted him. He is just a person now. Almost to be pitied - what I think he would hate the most.

Was it rough and over the top. Yes.

Did it do something to Karl Rove's image that nothing short of a bomb like this could have. Yes.

Has Rove used this same tactic to smear and destroy other lives? Yes.

Would I have the stomach to do this? No.

It is nobler to sit above the fray and the name-calling. Yes.

But it brings him down to the level the rest of us must live at: Fragile Human.

As cruel as it is, I can't help but think, "He was hit by what he is."

Personally, I am interested in hearing from others - I would like their opinions on whether this sentence went too far.

People like: Mr and Mrs. McCain, Mr. and Mrs. Muskie, Mr. and Mrs. Richards, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson, Robert Mosbacher, Alan Dixon, Mark White, Mark Kennedy, John Weaver, and the spouses, children and parents of all who died due to the marketing campaign of the White House Iraq Group.

I would really like their opinion on this matter before I feel guilty over the fact that I am glad he has finally gotten as good as he has given.

How can I separate this from the joy I felt when the Enron verdict was handed down. There were chills running through me as a reveled in the fact that those whose lives were ruined got a small measure of justice. If Johnson's shocking rant gives Rove's victims a small chuckle of satisfaction, when they remember how they felt when informed of whispers that they were pedophiles or push polls claimed they had illegitimately fathered children they hadn't, or claimed they were of a different sexual orientation than they were, I guess in a way I am happy for them.

So sue me.
