Wow, I never thought I would make to a 1000…..For my 1000th post, I wanted to take this opportunity to express my thanks to the DU community. Since joining, I have become a better informed and involved person than I was a year ago. My supposedly “throw away” email address now receives email from the likes of John Kerry, John Edwards, Gov. Howard Dean, Wes Clark, Russ Feingold and the list goes on – mainly for contributions but they keep me informed.. I am an active participant with the ACLU and feel more strongly connected with my political party than ever before. I have immensely enjoyed the posts here on the DU and the debates that occur to me is what Democracy is all about. This space has become a haven for me (and my husband for he enjoys hearing what’s going on here on any given day) and I can’t say enough about the DU community and how it has impacted my life. Shucks, you guys are the best! :grouphug: For my 1000th, I would like to present to you the following – it is an affirmation of my core beliefs for the Democratic Party and these values are ones that I wish to expand on within myself and pass on to my children:

D = Diligence
persistent and hard-working effort in doing something

E = Empathy
the ability to identify with and understand another person’s feelings or difficulties

M = Morality
standards of conduct that are accepted as right or proper

O = Outspoken
expressing opinions directly, frankly, and fearlessly

C = Conscience
the internal sense of what is right and wrong that governs somebody’s thoughts and actions, urging him or her to do right rather than wrong

R = Reasonable
sensible and capable of making rational judgments

A = Accommodating
willing to adjust actions in response to the needs of others

T = Tolerance
the acceptance of the differing views of other people, for example, in religious or political matters, and fairness toward the people who hold these different views

Again, THANK YOU DU for preserving my sanity…. :loveya:
