...with all the laws being passed for smokers to adhere to, I look out at the skyline and guess what? There is a pall hanging over the city and for miles beyond it and it is still as polluted as before smokers were banned and the act of smoking has diminished. Asthma and lung disease will not be affected much because what we are forced to breathe from pollution is far worse. this also includes all the chemicals we breathe from carpeting, cleaning fluids, and synthetic fibers that emit PCBs and other chemicals.

I am not saying that smoking does not irritate already irritated breathing, I am merely saying smoking is not the cause of most of the pollution that is creeping its way into our bodies. Walking by someone smoking a cigarette on the sidewalk is not going to do much more.
