Lessons from 30 Years in Coaching and Politics
Denny Hastert

In "Speaker" Rep. Dennis Hastert recounts his years as a civics teacher, football coach and representing the 14th District of Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives. The author, currently serving in the United States Congress as Speaker of the House, sat down for an interview in 2004 to discuss what he learned from organized sports and how he handled the daily responsibilities of the House immediately after the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Representative Dennis Hastert represents the 14th District of Illinois and is also Speaker of the House. As Speaker of the House he does not sit on any standing committees of the House. He co-authored "The Scouting Way" with Michael Eisner, Gov. George Pataki and Gen. Henry Shelton in 2001.
