In "Lighting the Way," Karenna Gore Schiff, daughter of former vice president Al Gore, talks about the lives of nine women who were behind major political movements in America. Ida B. Wells Barnett, Mother Jones, Dr. Alice Hamilton, Frances Perkins and Virginia Durr are all featured in the book. During an interview conducted by her mother, Tipper Gore, the author details the humanitarian efforts of some of the women and explains how they balanced their family and work lives. This event was hosted by the Women's National Democratic Club in Washington, DC.

Karenna Gore Schiff is the former Director of Community Affairs for the Association to Benefit Children and the eldest daughter of Former Vice President Al Gore and Tipper Gore. This is her first book.
