50. The point of refinancing anything is the retention
of property.
Not its loss.
Families make better homeowners than banks.
When entire neighborhoods are foreclosed, serious social consequences follow--
The homeless squat.
The drug-dealers have a venue for their sales.
The murderer has a place to kill.
The thief has a place to stash.
The poverty of the region did not cause its decline.
The wealth of those far away drained it.
It is in the national interest to keep people in homes they own.
It is also in the national interest to make sure everyone has a stake in the well-being of the society!
New Deal anyone?
