Dale Peters in IL has been recruited to join Randy "Doc" Barne's Honor Platoon.Posted By Robert Hanafin at 2:06 PM
All Readers of my Blog,
I don't know if anyone ever knew Dale Peters from Chicago, Illinois who posted a Blog of his own on VFA and ensured a few of our Blogs were forwarded across the naton on various Veteran listserves.
Regardless of the views and direction the collective we must take on IRAQINAM now, Dale Peters along with Randy "Doc" Barnes of Kansas City, MO (who left us in 2006) were viewed as worthy strategists in helping the Democrats take back Congress in 2006. Both rallied Veterans in the mid-West, organized caravans, fought for Veterans benefits, while opposing the War in Iraq.
Both were also proud members of both Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW), and Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA), in fact it was their inspiration and encouragement that persuaded this Retired Officer to become a member of VVAW in 2006, and I never protested the Vietnam War though I was in it and opposed it.
To the point, in the event you did know Dale Peters, I wanted you to know that
Brother Peters passed away in Chicago this past Wednesday, and Dale desired his passing and funeral to remain low-key and as low-profile as Dale tried to be.
Apparently, it was Dale's wishes to have a very low keyed service.
The best I know is that there will be a service tomorrow, Saturday, from 1 - 2 at:Modell Funeral Home7710 S. Cass AvenueDarien, IL 60561630-852-3595
If anyone resides in or near the Chicago area, you may want to pay your respects. The address for sending cards or flowers is ABOVE.
Dale was an Illinois state organizer and leader of Veterans for Kerry in 2004, and a favored target of free republic who kept a dossier including Dale's VVAW FBI file from the late 1960s - early 70s.
Dale and I have worked closely on the Veterans for America (VFA) Blog until I noticed that he disappeared a few weeks ago and started looking for him.
At one point the freepers and other right-wing nuts even accused Dale Peters and I of being one and the same going on a campaign charging Dale of impersonating a commissioned officer.
http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/news_theswamp/2006/12/statement_from_.htmlFrankly, that was done on both right and left-wing Democratic sites like Democratic Underground, and the liberals all time favorite Daily KOS whenever Brother Dale Peters joined me and other Independents in taking an INDEPENDENT STAND that went against both parties for the best interests of Veterans, troops, and military families carrying the burden of the War on Terror all by our lonesome.
Let this Mustang be bold enough to tell those who helped kill Dale two things. First, if anyone seriously believes that LOYALTY to any ONE political party will end or win IRAQINAM, YOU are in for a rude awakening. Don't trust ANY politcal party nor have loyalty to any one or two party system. The faster America achieves a multi-party political system the better. PLEASE take this from a long-time conservative Republican who voted for Reagan and never looked back until John Kerry.
The other is let me assure you and all are Welcome to check with VVA, because unlike most Nationalistic organizations (the American Legion and now VFW included), the VVA requires one provide a DD-214 for membership, that Bobby Hanafin is a Mustang, even if one does not agree with my politics or views on IRAQINAM, and I am a member of VVAW, because I do not blindly support ALL WARS.
That does not means that I BLINDLY OPPOSE ALL WARS, because someone has to do America's dirty work for us, and as a career military man I would be a HYPOCRITE to tell VVAW members otherwise, but having a military (volunteer or otherwise) does not mean American leaders need to or must turn it into a Professional Killing Machine that is offensive by nature. The American sheeple are not cut from such cloth as Radical Islam, and most of us who experienced Nam know this.
