Former Blue Springs man and girl’s mom charged in child sex scheme

A former Blue Springs man trained his roommate’s 12-year-old daughter to be a dominatrix and for years sold rough sex with her to others, federal prosecutors alleged Monday.

The mother, who allegedly helped get the girl to participate and shared in the profits, is the first parent charged federally for such crimes in the country, prosecutors in Kansas City said.

Authorities arrested Todd Barkau, 35, on Friday in New York on seven charges related to grooming the child for sex from 2000 to 2002 and selling her for it from 2002 to early 2005.

Her 44-year-old mother was arrested the same day in Texas for sex trafficking of a child and allowing a child to engage in sexual conduct for visual productions. The Star is not naming the mother in order to protect the victim.

When she was about 14, he created a home Internet business and advertised her as “Mistress Alisha.” For three years, she performed sex acts — including things like bondage, beatings, burning and mutilation — with men at home or in online video sessions.
