Swine Flu Confirmed at Notre Dame
Advertisements [?]
Indiana's first confirmed case of swine flu is a student at the Notre Dame. State Health Commissioner Judy Monroe says the student is "doing well" and has not suffered any serious complications from the virus. No other information about the student has been released.

State epidemiologists are investigating how the young adult who tested positive for the virus became infected. Monroe says they hope to have answers within a few days, but she says the person had not recently traveled to Mexico, where the new flu strain is suspected of causing more than 150 deaths.

Notre Dame says the student had sought treatment April 22 at the school's health center and a culture sample was sent to state health officials for analysis. Two days later, the school was notified that the virus may have been swine flu -- a determination the CDC confirmed yesterday.

Notre Dame says the student has fully recovered and is in good health.

And a university spokeswoman says there's "no cause for panic" and that all public events are continuing as scheduled.
