The Angry Right Has Become Extremely Dangerous

The latest bout of angry rioting Republican mobs is just the latest installment of a series of changes the Conservative leadership has been encouraging since the election of Americas first African American President, Barack Obama. It started, actually, before the election, with ad campaigns and political papers against Obama putting him in the cross-hairs of gun scopes. For example:

And then there were the angry outbursts, and then mobs at McCain rallies. Their very anger and mob behavior was ratcheted up by Palin's suggestion that Obama was a terrorist. It didn't help when the New Yorker, trying to be snark, came out with this cover:

That seemed to only fan the flames and then when McCain, under pressure from both opponents and supporters, tried to quiet it, the response was only to increase the anger, moving into dangerous territory with statements like "Obama's a Terrorist", "Kill Him!", and "Kill the Nigger". McCain was unable to quiet the lynch-ready crowd.

Then when Obama won the election, gun sales went through the roof. The angry right began stockpiling both guns and ammo, actually creating ammo shortages across the nation. Was it an unfounded fear that Obama was going to take away their guns or was it something else?

Next there were the TeaBaggers angry that they have to pay taxes even though, to the moment the TeaBaggers began their rallies, there were no tax increases even being discussed. But they were angry (and fearful) that they had to pay taxes. But perhaps, the confusion most of us had about the TeaBaggers was because we did not yet understand their motivation. It wasn't really about taxes. It was about the first black President of this country. They just couldn't say it explicitly. Though, they let their children do it for them, as this picture shows:

But their racial anger wasn't isolated to just a few. Soon the Birther movement came, and lest anyone be unsure what this is about, it's about racism. Most of America believes the Birthers are a fringe lunatic wing of the party. If that were true, then there would not be actual Congressmen supporting the idea and as a recent poll showed, 58% of Republicans believe Obama may not be a U.S. Citizen. This is contrary to all the documentation and evidence that Obama has provided. What the 58% cannot handle is that America has elected a non-white as President. And since they cannot come out and say it, they are left to denigrate him as an illegal immigrant.

Along with the Birther movement has been the astro-turf campaign created to go against the Healthcare Reform that this country so direly needs. The Insurance Industry is pouring money into organizing an anti-reform campaign to the tune of over $1.4 MILLION PER DAY. And they are smart. They are taking the racial anger pent up in the Birthers and retargeting it on the health care bill by getting these paid organizers to create Angry Republican Mobs to incite riots at town-hall meetings. And it's working to incite the angry mobs, which is not a good thing for anyone.

Remember all those guns and ammo that sold in Q3 2008 and Q1 2009? Well the SS has revealed that there are 30 death threats a day now against the President, a 400% increase over any other president. The angry right is taking up their guns and shooting abortion clinic doctors, spurred on by the likes of O'Reily and Limbaugh. They are shooting up churches and local gyms. It's not just racial, as we learned that the Pittsburgh shooter's anger was targeted against women. But it's anger on the right nonetheless. What appears to most of us to be lunacy is really an incapability of most on the right to accept that they are no longer in control. And they are not afraid to get violent about it.

With the Right-Wing hate media such as O'Reilly and Limbaugh egging on the anger, the Insurance industry pouring millions per day into inciting the anger and the Republican leadership in Congress further encouraging the behavior, it can be safely said that we are entering dangerous territory here. The only problem is that it is not just the lunatic fringe.
