I just really resent being told what I can say and not say. Who is in charge of this? Who makes up all these rules?

Sure some of these make sense. Their replacements are sensible, not hard to articulate, and the people they describe are satisfied with them.

But others really seem to be foisted upon us and then severely enforced, as though you are a language criminal if you slip up and say the older term.

I think it really curbs our linguistic freedom.
