6. Shortly after Shiavo died, my 94 year old mother went into the hospital.
She had given up eating. She was done. Her son (my older brother) had died six months earlier from a stroke. She had given up.

I went to her hospital room and she was given hospice care. even tho they were no longer deemed a hospice hospital...they had to put in for a transfer for her to a hospital where there was such care...I knew she would not survive that. She did not.

Interesting. I had a quick flash of the likes of Tom Delay coming into my mother's hospital room and telling me that he was in charge of her healthcare, even tho I had her POA on health care. It was a chilling experience at the time...

I have never marked this anniversary in honor of my mother. I hold her in my heart and I honor the memories of her, which I tell my own children...this is a legacy and it is important...take note.
