59. Is it an independent theater? They may not be allowed to show it.
They may not have clearance from the major chains to show the film. Many smaller companies and independents get blocked out of lots of films that way. And, instead of explaining the whole clearance issue to every customer that calls (and theaters don't like to discuss the clearance process), they may use some lame excuse instead.
