149. What I don't want is to be stuck with Ed Schultz in the afternoons

on both Sirius and on KLSD! I want one of them to move him to the morning and the other to carry Thom Hartmann in the morning. That way they'll complement each other! I'd prefer that KLSD move him to the morning, so that that way I could pick up Randi Rhodes in the afternoon instead of Ed that we have now there (and on KLSD here). Sirius would then be a question mark if they were to move him to the morning, since they couldn't get Randi at that time. No matter what, progressive talk on XM seems to be a screwed up mess now, which is why I canceled them already!

I would think that KLSD and other affiliates would WANT to complement Sirius. If they tried to do the same with XM, then it would be an "either/or" choice instead of listening some of the time to satellite and some of the time to the local affiliate. They would stand to pick more audience at different times of the day from Sirius listeners who want more choice (ESPECIALLY if Sirius is getting "bumped" by a sports broadcast preemption).

Sirius would be wise to pick up Thom Hartmann full time in the mornings to be the true satellite alternative to Ed (and perhaps on many affiliates) in the mornings. If that were to happen, it would also be really hard for the "exclusive" satellite arrangement XM has with AAR to continue through the next contract renewal.
