14. Well, then they can explain this...
Military deaths by period

Period 6:Feb 2007 to today Average of casualties per day 2.05 (The "Surge")

Period 5: Dec 15 2005 to Jan 31, 2007 Average of casualties per day 2.39 (Dec 15 day after Iraqi gen elect)

Period 4:Jan 31, 2005 to Dec 14, 2005 Average of casualties per day 2.35 (Jan 31 day after Iraqi elect)

Period 3:June 29, 2004 to Jan 30, 2005 Average of casualties per day 2.93 (Sov to elections)

Period 2: May 2, 2003 to June 28, 2004 Average of casualties per day 1.9 (June 28 day after sovereignty to Iraq)

Period 1: March 20, 2003 to May 1, 2003 Average of casualties per day 4.02 (beginning to end of major combat)

From http://icasualties.org/oif/

I don't see any great differences with the exception of Period 2, when the Iraqis probably thought we were done with our misadventure and getting the hell out of their country soon.
