He got the DNC out of debt for the first time in it's history, built a state-of-the-art DNC headquarters wired for activism - internet, phone banks,etc., and created a computer database of more than 170 million potential voters known as "Demzilla."

"I have been told about Demzilla,” Howard Dean said in 2005, adding, “I am a big fan of Terry McAuliffe. Everything we do today stands on the shoulders of his fundraising efforts.”

Get it? No Terry, no Demzilla, no 50 State Strategy.

McAuliff did the dirty work so the party could prosper.

Was he a "leader?" Would he have made a good governor? Who knows!
