The danger of global warming is that we will change the climate so much that humans will no longer be able to exist here. No matter if we cut down all the rain forests and pollute the oceans to the point that one could walk upon them, the planet itself will be here until Sol goes supernova. It has survived for billions of years through all kinds of climate changes, humans are but a single eyeblink over a lifetime to it. It is kind of arrogant to think that we can kill the planet. We'll kill ourselves but the planet will go on and life in another form will come up eventually as it has many times before.
