(CBS) An attorney for former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has denied a report that she and her husband are planning to divorce.

Sarah Palin’s attorney, Thomas Van Flein, told CBS News that the report of a divorce is "categorically false."

The Web site Alaskareport.com, citing "multiple sources," claimed today that the couple was planning to divorce. A similar report had been posted on the blog The Immoral Minority.

Another Palin attorney, Robert Barnett, also told CBS News that the divorce rumors were "totally untrue."

Among the points made to try to support the divorce claim was a purchase by Sarah Palin of land in Montana; the suggestion that the Palins were "noticeably not speaking to each other" during her appearance in Fairbanks last Sunday when she formally handed over the governor's office to Sean Parnell; and a report that she had been seen not wearing a wedding ring....

----------

It is looking more and more likely that this story is FALSE. CBS News is now running a story to the same effect. Please don't give them any more weapons to use against us. Don't let the Rethug pity party begin again for Sarah Palin. Health care is paramount to these distractions in the news media! This story must be killed before the networks pick it up and run with it. It gives Rethugs power over the news cycle, again pushing more pressing issues aside.
