10. Not everybody at Woodstock was a...
"Hippie" for example. I know Deadheads that are repubs, and one was even a birther. That's the paradox of the "hippie" thing. Some "hippies" went on to become drug addicts and wasted away, some had families and were absorbed into the status quo pretty much by force, hell,ya gotta get a job and fed your kids. The Liberals continued on being liberals, and the yuppies never were "hippies", just kids who were havin a good time listening to music and when the fun was over went on to become bankers at daddies bank. I knew lots of posers back then, but I actually stayed true to the course. Sure, I had to work and earn a living, but I'm still a "hippie" at heart, still drive 2 VW buses, and stand for peace, saving whales and old growth forests. The kids I see today at concerts and festivals are all wearing tye-dye, and pretending that they are at Woodstock, but when they leave their campsite, there is trash and empty beer bottles everywhere, and they drive off in their SUV and put on their Armani and go back to work. The term "hippie" was a state of mind, and it's hard to drop out of a society that is all present and demands that you work and pay taxes, but you can hang on to your beliefs and practice them.
