10% of rural households in the US had electricity in 1930. A decade later 90% had power, thanks to the New Deal Rural Electrification Administration (REA). From 1949, the REA could also provide assistance to co-operative telephone companies.

In 1994 the evil socialist REA was incorporated into the US Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS), which is charged with providing public utilities (electricity, telephone, water, sewer) to rural areas.

OK so don't use the phone either. And don't use public water or sewage. And don't eat food that was produced at socialist farms where these government subsidized utilities are used.
