8. This should have been done from the beginning. Simply repeal the barriers
to qualifying for Medicare (on disability or age 65 and over).

That's the bill. Just repeal those provisions and Medicare is open to all who want it. Many people, myself included, have believed this for a long time.

Then all this political capital can be spent on shoring up Medicare for the long haul.

Plus, this puts Republicans on the hot heat -- do they or do they not support Medicare?
