51. Is there anyone other than the "extremists" actually standing
for principle? At what point does compromise become capitulation? Are there things for which there is no acceptable compromise? I have yet to see the Republicans compromise on anything, nor show any wilingness to. Is there anything the Democrats won't compromise on?

Just getting something done for the sake of getting something done, however much apparent compromise and negotiation is going on, doesn't necessarily mean that what gets done is worth doing. That appears to be the case in the health care debate where both sides clearly cannot or will not envision any kind of health care system that doesn't revolve around a nucleous of profit making. Our "Uniquely American" for-profit health care system must be protected. The insurance industry must be protected. Both sides are in fealty to it, so they'll dance around the very thing that is needed, namely, putting the insurance companies to heel, and under the pretense of "compromise and negotiation" -- the Republicans will do niether, in good faith -- foist some crap on us.
