Ex-supporter to run against Stupak over anti-abortion funding stance

A Democratic activist announced today she's challenging Rep. Bart Stupak out of her frustration that his hard line on abortion funding threatens to derail sweeping health care legislation pending in Congress.

"I decided to run because people were asking for a candidate because they were mad about the health care issue. It's his willingness to not have health care pass over his abortion position that has people like me upset."

She said she won't drop her primary challenge if Congress passes health care legislation.

"His behavior has caused so much distrust," she said. "He showed he was willing to sacrifice health care."
