And sadly tonight's speech, which would have provided an excellent platform for a visionary plan that would have included unleashing the Mississippi to save the marshes, did not even hint at the plan that Brinkley had mentioned.

I saw Doug Brinkley when he made that remark on Anderson Cooper's 360 (Carville was the other guest). No further information was provided, and there has been no corroboration of what Brinkley said. And now Brinkley is not even talking about it anymore.

I blame Brinkley for making such an uncorroborated assertion on national TV. There is no such thing as faith based politics. Prayer ain't gonna get us out of this mess. There is no god up there to wave the magic wand to save us. It was man's arrogance and stupidity that led us to this disaster in the Gulf, and it will be man that will get us out of this mess, but not unscathed.
