In some ways I could see the tremendous upside to doing this. It could be a "beer with Gates" moment, but one that calls out the RW media. Then again, it could be viewed as highly opportunistic, and who knows how the media will spin it.

I think the administration should call out the right wing lies using this very incident, but I'm not sure that a high-profile press conference showing they were suckered into overreacting is the way to go.

Maybe I'm wrong and overthinking this.
