The seat should be filled though, because the balance is askew anyway, and losing even one voice is dangerous.

Frankly, I do not see her ever returning to congress. Her rehab will take months, and then the re-election season will start up, with fundraising etc. Her stamina will certainly take a long time to return, and if her speech is not "normal", or her recollection is not complete, she will probably be primaried and even though she's beloved, she would probably not win.

It's sad to think that her career is over, but it may well be.

If she has a great recovery, she may want to continue, but her body may say "no"...
