227. Bullshit
I just moved from BC last year. I was in a remote area up north and then in a not-so-remote-but-still-north area. I now live in Alberta, in a large city. The care in BC is excellent. I have not heard of people waiting for a year to see a specialist. The system helps my (soon to be ex) FIL with his home dialysis, pays for the machine, the training he needed to take to use it, and numerous other expenses. He never had to wait a year to see all of his various specialists. I've seen many specialists, as have my children and I think my longest wait was 6 weeks for a totally minor issue. Last year I had gallbladder surgery within 3 weeks of my first attack. (2 weeks after seeing the specialist which was 1 week after my first ER visit). I would pick that care anyday over having next-day surgery and paying $30000 out of pocket for it.

Your assertion that it is third world level care is total hyperbole. I will agree with some politicians trying to emulate the US, but look at here in Alberta - they tried and tried and there was the odd private clinic that popped up here and there but for the most part, that has been rejected and now we don't even have monthly premiums. I'm not as impressed with the level of care here as I was in BC but that could be a function of small town VS big city more than BC vs Alberta.
