US intelligence issue pessimistic report on Fallujah offensive
Okay, bush take off those rose colored glasses.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1514&e=13&u=/afp/20041118/wl_mideast_afp/us_iraq_falluja_report_041118102945

One officer said the seven-page classified report -- parts of which were provided to Thursday's edition of The New York Times -- was "brutally honest" and appears to contradict the US government's victorious account of the US-led fight against insurgents in Fallujah and other parts of northern Iraq.

Although the resistance crumbled in the face of the offensive, the report warned, "the enemy will be able to effectively defeat I MEF's ability to accomplish its primary objectives of developing an effective Iraqi security force and setting the conditions for successful Iraqi elections."

9. Just stating the obvious.
This is the same thing that went on in Vietnam. We can beat down the enemy in battle but as soon as we leave they're back. For every one of them we kill there are six more ready to take his place. You don't need an intelligence report to know that.

12. Doesn't matter that Fallujah mission was not accomplished
It, along with murder of Margaret Hassan, drew the public's eye away from the stolen election, didn't it?

16. I don't mean to sound cynical, but "So?"
Gee, the administration is lying to the American people. Again. People are dying because of it. Again. We're pouring men, materiel and money into a hopeless cause that won't attain any of its objectives. Again. And the situation will take a turn for the worse. Again.

So what? It's not as if the media will report on this. And if they do, it's not like they'll hold the administration accountable. And if they do, it's not like they'll report on it again tomorrow. And if they do, it's not like people will give a tin shit about it.

Because the administration and its mouthpieces will come out in overwhelming force to tell us that black is really white, up is really down, and that oncoming train is really the light at the end of the tunnel. Who's got the combination of outrage, clout and stamina to stand up and tell the truth so that it actually sticks?

17. My mate just got a Sat phone call from his cousin in Fallujah
One of my close friends has a cousin in OZZIE special forces. They are currently taking part in the battle for Fallujah. He went back on his third mission recently. My friend rang me up not 1 hour ago to say he had just recieved a call from him on his "Sat"phone in the middle of battle. Fallujah offensive is not looking too great. In fact OZZIE Special forces have taken up defensive positions. He reckons the Tribes have taken up total arms. Not all of them are great fighters but the real problem is that there are "heaps" of them!! Its like the Chinese in Korea! He totally agrees that the americans are throwing everything they've got from Napalm to chemical weapons in an effort to kill them. Now i quote what my friend said "******* ******** says that unless we get heaps more men in here we are going to be fucked - we have totally underestimated the number of people who hate us here, there everywhere! Supply of ammo, water and food is desperate in that order and everyone is calling for airstrikes to help them out,out of a "jam".
Seriously Americans its time to think about something really serious or we are going to lose many many more men in Fallujah. If it ends up a massacre of out forces then who is "Bushco" going to call up????
Originally i thought this was going to be an interesting battle, but it appears its becoming a complete "clusterfuck"!

18. wait till they start seeing HUMAN WAVES
Iran-Iraq War
VI. Mounting Losses

As the war continued, Iraq, no longer believing it could achieve the sweeping victory it had hoped for at the outset, concentrated more and more on simply preventing an Iranian victory. Nevertheless, by 1986 Iraq's condition grew increasingly desperate. Its ability to hold its defensive positions was threatened by Iran’s willingness to suffer enormous casualties. Iran sent massive numbers of older men, children, and sometimes women as human “waves” against Iraq’s better-equipped forces. Although thousands upon thousands of these poorly armed forces were slaughtered with each assault, the Iranian government continued to send them to the front. With its larger population, Iran seemed confident that it would ultimately prevail. Iraq also mustered civilians not normally called on to fight, and by the mid-1980s its population was severely strained.

In 1986 Iran captured the Iraqi gulf town of Al Fāw. Iraq responded with more effective techniques—especially the use of massive amounts of poison gas—to thwart Iran’s frontal assaults. Iraq also stepped up its attacks on Iranian cities, oil installations, and shipping, drawing severe Iranian reprisals against Iraqi oil production and shipping that prompted more American activity in the gulf. Although clashes between American and Iranian forces fell far short of full-scale battles, the American presence nevertheless brought an end to Iranian superiority over Iraq at sea, giving Iraq time to resupply its weaponry and stop the Iranian ground advance.
