Pentagon offers Pakistan $1.2B arms deal
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big News Network.com Friday 19th November, 2004

The Pentagon has offered Pakistan a $1.2 billion arms package, the first in more than 14 years, the Hindustan Times reported Thursday.

Some see the offer as a reward for Pakistan's support in the U.S. war on terror.

The arms package, which must be approved by the U.S. Congress, includes eight P-3C Orion surveillance aircraft, six Phalanx rapid-fire guns for the Pakistan navy and more than 2,000 TOW 2 missiles for the army, according to Pentagon sources.
more...

Isn't Pakistan the home of Osama Bin Laudin and the ones who gave the nukes to Iran!!!

India to Create a High-Tech City for Cos.

<http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041119/ap_on_hi_te/india_smart_city_3>

COCHIN, India - Southern India's Kerala state plans to create a 1,000-acre (400-hectare) zone called "Smart City," where technology companies from around the world will be invited to set up operations, an official said Friday.

The area, outside Cochin city, will include office space, residences, schools and an entertainment complex, said Kerala's Industry Minister P. K. Kunjalikutty.

It will include software developers and call centers — two of the Indian economy's fastest growing sectors.

"Smart City ... will be an exclusive IT zone where foreign companies can easily set up shop without any stringent formalities of registration and licensing," Kunjalikutty said.
