Five Long Island teens who nearly killed a woman in a prank gone bad were arrested yesterday for throwing a 20-pound turkey through her windshield as she drove past their car , Suffolk County cops said.

...at 90 miles per hour. My car's side view mirror was hit, once, with a marshmallow, while I was driving at about 35 MPH. I thought a rock hit the car, and the force of the marshmallow pushed the mirror all the way in to the door. Those kids are lucky they didn't kill that poor woman.

I don't believe they were thinking that would happen. Sometimes kids need to grow a brain though. I don't think they are going to get off easy with the fraud charge, and they shouldn't. That's going to mess up any attempt at a defense that they are "good kids." They need to take responsability for their actions.

I hate to make a joke about this woman's condition...these punks deserve way more than whatever the Law will mete out in punishment....but when I saw this story, I thought of the old quote above....

The poor woman, those punk ass bitches should have to serve the victims her meals and handle her bed pan, wipe her ass.

The "kid" who actually threw the frozen bird through this woman's windshield and may have left her brain damaged was EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD -- old enough to know better. We have 18 year old "kids" dying in Iraq every day, and this habitual loser had nothing better to do? He's AN ADULT and should be prosecuted for his "prank".

Its amazing how one moment of stupidity can go terribly wrong and mess up lives. I wish the woman comfort and healing energy.

From the sounds of her injuries she must have got hit full face head on with that turkey which if frozen was a good medium size boulder. The "pranksters" should most definitely pay.

However the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread was the Thanksgiving WKRP live turkey drop disaster episode.

According to the article this so-called "kid" has had enough such "moments" to fill your day calendar for a year. He's an out-of-control loser whose ass needs to be behind bars. And perhaps the parents of these model citizens, three of whom were 17, should be so kind as to pay for what is surely to be extensive medical bills for this woman, or her extended care if indeed she is now disabled.

to rot in hell for what they did. It shouldn't even be called a prank. A prank is ringing someone's doorbell and running away so they think no one is there. This is not a prank. They knew what they were getting into. They should all be put in jail the rest of their lives.

I wonder if beating someone with a baseball bat on Halloween would be considered a "Halloween prank."

Okay, okay. I know plenty of people aged 18 (and 8, for that matter) who are smart and thoughtful enough to know that throwing a 20-pound object at the unsuspecting driver of a moving vehicle is a) stupid and b) wrong! As ava27 noted, this sure isn't like TP-ing someone's yard or leaving flaming bags of manure on doorsteps. It's criminal negligence at least, even manslaughter!

Some jerk kids did this in Germany with a boulder off the overpass, the boulder crashed thru some lady's BMW windshield and she went off the road and died. Just another "prank" gone bad I suppose.

Just because it was a frozen turkey doesn't make it a prank. It might as well have been a bolling ball or a cinder block. Than MAN who threw it knew exactly what he was doing. It was attempted murder... just for fun.

He just wanted to kill someone for fun. I see no difference between him and these assholes who fucked up this woman's life so completely.

Why not send these adorable, prank-filled children to Iraq? Crazy killing pranks are welcome there. Those soldiers who killed that one family's chickens after slaughtering several family members... ha ha, the platoon is still giggling about that prank.

Try this one out. We need to cut these kids some slack until we know what all the facts are. The anger at these kids is misdirected, we should really be angry at the socio-economic conditions that put these kids in that situation in the first place.
