Republican Governors Hear From Karl Rove
By ADAM NOSSITER, Associated Press Writer

NEW ORLEANS - Republican governors wrapped up a low-key, two-day conference Friday listening to Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge laud the benefits of federal-state cooperation.

But the real star of the show slipped in and out of the meeting at a New Orleans hotel unannounced, without talking to reporters: top White House political strategist Karl Rove.

The architect of President Bush (news - web sites)'s re-election addressed the governors at a closed dinner Thursday night, providing a detailed, statistical explanation about how Bush won, according to some who were there, including Missouri Gov.-elect Matt Blunt and Ohio Gov. Bob Taft.

Some who attended said that Rove emphasized Bush's increased margins among distinct segments of the electorate — Hispanics, women, evangelicals and others — and a major theme was how the added majorities justified the president's claim of having received a mandate from the voters.

1. Slipped in is the key in this article, I sure as heck don't believe he
told them how Bush won the election but just the opposite and that those Damn Dumb Democrats are up to no good looking for fraud and error but we got that covered anyway.

3. KKKarl meets with the Grand Dragons of the Klan
and indoctrinates them into the lie of the Mandate. How ironic that he uses minority votes as the reason for the AntiPrez's apparent success.

7. I have solace knowing one day Karl Rove (et. al.) will have to make peace
with his maker.

It won't be pretty, either.

12. They don`t believe in god as you do. They just say they do.
I don`t believe in god. So I am not afraid of meeting my maker. I can`t believe Rove or any in his circle believe god is much more than a good sound bite. To quell any kind of resistance. To the very fascist policies dealt out continually by this court appointed administration.

8. Of course they were going to hear from him. He organized them to
campaign for Bush. The Governor of Nevada Kenny Guinn was the co-chair of Bush's Nevada campaign committee along with our AG, Brian Sandoval, who got a nice cushy judge appointment right afterwards.....

10. Why did he feel the need to "justify" the president's mandate claim ?
Was there some internal dissent? Murmurings among the ranks?

14. I wondered about that too.
Perhaps Bush plans on doing something so outrageous that even republicans will object and they are being warned in advance not to dissent.

The republican governors already know that Bush intends to refuse to fund state education and Medicaid needs and to allow the trashing of the environment in their states to benefit corporate profits. It will be interesting, though depressing, to see what Bush does that upsets the republican governors.
