Outrage in Russia as Putin moves in for the kill on Yukos
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big News Network.com Saturday 20th November, 2004

Russia has seized the main asset of oil giant Yukos and plans to sell it in a move likely to kill off foreign investment in Russia.

Yukos, Russia's largest oil producer, has been under the hammer for more than a year following moves by its founder and CEO Mikhail Khodorkovsky to enter politics.

In a highly public incident in October last year masked security men from the FSB security police force swooped on Khodorkovsky who was boarding his private jet at an airport in Siberia and arrested him. He has been in jail ever since and is facing tax evasion charges.

3. Is there a problem here?
Putin's Russia is the prototype for Bush's soon to come plan for America.

4. Prediction
The buyer will be state's oil company or something to the same effect.

It seems quite clear that what Putin is doing is to renationalize at least parts of what were looted during the Jeltsin neoliberal years. Putin is absolutely right, the oil belongs to Russians, not bunch of robber capitalists. Seeing how Putin buttfucks "Rockefellers", domestic and foreign, gives me great pleasure, and corporate mediawhores yelling in pain and horror gives me even more pleasure. :)

5. I don't see any "outrage in Russia" in the article
What I see are Western oil industry operatives and their paid for political hacks exasperated that Putin would take away such a juicy morsel of early Russian privatization away from them.

The only outrage is when a nation's natural resources belong to foreign conglomerates. Nobody in Russia gives a shit about a scumbag like Khodorkovsky.

10. It's not about OPEC
Only question is when Russia starts selling her oil to EU in euros, it is in the interests of both parties. Russia trades mainly with EU, and the new member states are joining the eurozone when their economies are ready; few of them as early as 2007.

The reason why this has not happened yet, is that Putin want's to squeeze out some favours from EU first. Also, it is likely that the move would cause severe dollar crisis, problem is finding way to sink petrodollar empire so that it don't hurt other players too much, so EU and Russia need to plan it carefully. It is also possible that Russia want's to use this political capital as a threat against US.

7. Outrage in Russia
That was funny. I scrolled down to see who was outraged. Some were not "in" Russia and they're the vaguest bunch of all, mostly world 'leaders" of something or other. Presumably oligarchies like ours.

Investors, analysts, stockholders, bankers, etc. What a large concerned, disinterested voting bloc that is. They were meant to feel the heat. Big deal. That is why Putin protected himself and his nation by taking the upstart oligarch down.

Which makes me wonder what great "democratic" concern this news organization represents.

8. He has to do it...
He needs the control over whether the oil is paid for with Petro-Dollars or Petro-Euros.
THERE rests the REAL power, and a couple of greedy pigs feeding at the trough won't stop him from acquiring that BIG stick.
