NEW YORK (Reuters) - Software maker Microsoft Corp. on Friday said it and computer maker Dell Inc. will supply software and services to the U.S. Air Force, in a deal valued at more than $500 million over 6 years.
Under the agreement, Microsoft will provide server software, maintenance and upgrade support, while Dell will supply more than 525,000 licenses for Microsoft desktop Windows and Office software

I recall an incident where a ship was left dead in the water due to a Microsoft crash. That wouldn't work too well with an aircraft.

Proof that the U.S. military is run by idiots.

11. a bit of a worry here
we will have those new F-22 Raptors based nearby here (Langley), and for sme reason alot of military flight paths are VERY close to my immdiate area--you can see C-5s, C-17s, F18s, 15,s, 16s overhead ona daily basis.
The F-22s had those cokpit software issues, so seeing tis new deal with M$ and Dell isn't very assuring...
