Huge arms cache seized near Afghan border

Authorities have recovered a huge cache of explosives and ammunition from a district near Afghan border where Pakistani forces are hunting al Qaeda linked militants, an official said on Friday. "We have recovered 3,600 kilograms of explosives, hundreds of 82 mm mortar shells, 75mm rifle rounds, 18 shells of 107mm rockets and 40,000 rounds of bullets of different caliber," a local administration official told AFP.

Military officials in the north-west Pakistani city of Peshawar confirmed the seizure but gave no details.

The weapons were recovered when security forces raided two compounds in the town of Kanigarram in South Waziristan district on Thursday, he said.

Isn't it too amazing that so many Americans (mostly rightwingnuts) still don't even know that AMERICA SPONSORED and TRAINED and SUPPORTED not only the Taleban & Al Qaeda, but OBL himself.

It's called BLOWBACK. Or as the ignorant rightwingnuts call it, "hating us for our freedoms" and "liberals always blame America first".

These weapons finds are just like the terror alerts, i.e. they're only political ploys to convince the public that something significant is being done. The Bush Administration has done almost nothing to stop the funding for terrorist cells. If you don't stop the funding, little will change.

I remember reading somewhere that only about 4 percent of funding from Saudi Arabia to terrorist organizations has been shut down since 911.

The farce will reach new levels when they find the looted/missing/stolen weapon caches in Iraq ending up on the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.
