Bush responds to pressure from his own party
http://www.sunspot.net/news/nationworld/bal-te.spend07sep07,0,2193949.story?coll=bal-nationworld-headlines

WASHINGTON - In deciding to go on national television tonight to push an Iraqi financial package of up to $80 billion, President Bush is responding to pressure from his party to be more open about his plans for the country's occupation and reconstruction.

At a time of economic distress at home and growing criticism about American casualties in Iraq, Republican congressional sources said GOP House and Senate leaders made it clear to Bush that he needs to be more forthright about what the U.S. commitment in Iraq entails.

With the price of security and reconstruction surging beyond expectations, Democrats and Republicans are demanding greater accountability for spending in Iraq from an administration that has kept them largely in the dark about costs. The size of the latest financial package has taken many in Congress aback, although Bush is expected to win approval.

"In order to get this kind of money, there's not going to be a blank check attached to it," said Rep. Zach Wamp, a Republican from Tennessee who is a member of the House Appropriations Committee. "This is one request we need to vet closely. It does not have to be fast-tracked despite the fact that time is of the essence."

1. Bush* has lost it
Right now, he is starting to get questioned on the war in the senate by republicans, and on free trade in the house by republicans. Once the 'merkin people realize that even his underlings are growing tired with him, watch for these numbers to drop further. I hope the sycophantic press starts to "get it" as well. You can still be a patriotic american and realize that the smirking chimp is a danger to our country.

3. How long is the 80 billion for? A month?
I really hope he is on television monthly asking for 80 billion. I suppose this should hold them for a couple of months. Does Haliburton have direct deposit?

4. Last July, at a Senate hearing on this issue....
Senator Biden ripped into Wolfowitz on securing a known figure. I think they were suppose to get back on that, they didn't have the calculations...I guess the dog ate their homework......

7. Only $80B?
That's easy. It's only about 1/3 of the amount we will spend on Medicare/Medicaid this year. We'll have to give them up so that we can have security for the 'Mericun people. /sarcasm.

Or maybe they will just borrow it from Social Security, so that they can defer the fact the the government won't be able to pay it back to a Dem Prez.

8. Everyone needs to remember...
... that when our congress of collaborators approves whatever the simple simian asks for, they are defying all of us. Vote against any congressional candidate who votes for administration proposals.
