Iran Rules Out Complete Dismantling of Nuclear Program
BEIJING (Reuters) - Iran will never be prepared to dismantle its nuclear program entirely but remains committed to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, its chief delegate to the International Atomic Energy Agency said on Wednesday.

"Definitely, Iran will never be prepared for dismantling. This is out of the question and out of negotiation," Hossein Mousavian told a news conference in Beijing.

"Americans also have no right to raise something like this."

2. True that "Americans have no right to raise something like this."
It's kinda hard to convince other countries to dismantle when our nuclear programs are thriving and we're using low grade nuclear weapons in Iraq (Depleated Uranium ammunition). What does the US expect?

3. If I had Bush at the button - I wouldn't give up all my weapons
either

He had saddam give up everything and sanctions - so he could invade a defenseless country - and bomb the hell out of the people

they do believe in killing - they may say they don't believe in abortion but they do it every day in the ME - they are aborting men, women and children all the time

5. link updated: China siding with Iran
~snip~

In meetings in Beijing, Chinese officials expressed their opposition to any referral of the Iranian nuclear issue to the U.N. Security Council, where China is a permanent, veto-wielding member, Hossein Mousavian said.

"They are against referral of the Iranian issue to the Security Council," he told a news conference in Beijing.

Such a Chinese stand could be a blow to U.S. efforts to report Iran to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions.

6. Iran Wants to Change Conditions of Freeze
Iran is demanding that it be allowed to operate dozens of centrifuges, although doing so would be banned under a freeze of uranium enrichment activities it recently agreed to, diplomats said Thursday.

The Iranians have told the International Atomic Energy Agency - the U.N. nuclear watchdog - that they want to operate about 24 of the centrifuges "for research purposes," the diplomats told The Associated Press.

They have asked the IAEA to exempt that equipment from agency seals meant to ensure the enrichment program - which can be used to make nuclear weapons - is completely at a standstill, one of the diplomats said.

7. reuters: Iran Wants to Amend Nuke Freeze, EU Says No

"The Iranians asked to be allowed to continue conducting research and development with centrifuges during the freeze, but the Europeans told them no," a Western diplomat told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Iran promised the European Union (news - web sites) last week it would suspend its entire uranium enrichment program and all related activities in a bid to avoid a report to the U.N. Security Council for possible sanctions. The suspension, which includes all work with centrifuges, took effect on Monday.

Centrifuges purify uranium to fuel power plants or weapons by spinning at supersonic speeds.

"Iran has asked to be allowed to test centrifuge rotors during the freeze," said a diplomat, who added that this would require permission to operate a number of centrifuges.
