TOLEDO, Ohio - A federal judge on Tuesday denied a request by third-party presidential candidates who wanted to force a recount of Ohio ballots even before the official count was finished.

Judge James G. Carr in Toledo ruled that the candidates have a right under Ohio law to a recount, but said it can wait. The judge wrote that he saw no reason to interfere with the final stages of Ohio's electoral process. Officials have said the results will be certified by Dec. 6.

The lawsuit by Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb and Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik had asked Carr to issue an order requiring Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell to immediately begin statewide recount of Nov. 2 voting results.

The candidates received a combined 0.26 percent of the vote in unofficial results. But they contend a recount is necessary to ensure accuracy.

5. Ok ...so get this.
My Sister IN law is from Ohio...all of her family lives there, she asks her mother the other night about all the crap going on in Ohio... Can you believe her Mother was clueless about any of it??? could it be??? She said she saw something about a protest and possible recounts but she didn't realize just how big all of this mess was, nor did my sil's sister. I just think that is crazy, isn't it on the news there???

11. All Quiet Here....
I finally cancelled the Cleveland Plain Dealer.....they were only reporting what they 'had' to. Most of what I'm hearing is either through news online, or here at DU. No one here is aware of what's going on.........

America doesn't even know if their vote counted? sheesh...
What has the Media turned too?? When I was a kid I use to think of TRUE writers, like detectives or sleuths. They drudge up the truth. It is like these guys are being gagged and bound somewhere.

6. Let's hope the same judge, or a different one doesn't
let the repukes waste the time after Dec 6 with court orders, like they did in 2000. When they finally said the recount could happen, there was absolutely no time left.

7. There is no legal ground for what he just did. He should be yanked from
the bench for this malpractice.

THERE IS NO LEGAL GROUND FOR HIS DECISION.

When are people going to get angry????????

9. oh i'm angry
but it's in a mild-outer-shell sort of way where I sit around reading forums and long-ass articles until I lose the ability to stay awake...its something to do until the results of this election are fraud-free or until we march on D.C.
