Army Guard misses recruiting goal
WASHINGTON — The Army National Guard has fallen significantly behind its recruiting goal one month into the military's new fiscal year, continuing a downward slide that began in 2003 and could make it harder for the Pentagon to find enough troops for the war in Iraq.

In October, the Army Guard recruited 2,546 enlistees, more than 30% below its target of 3,675.

The numbers do not bode well for the Army Guard, which missed its 2004 recruiting target of 56,000 enlistees by nearly 7,000. This year, the 350,000-member Guard has an even larger goal of 65,000, in part to make up for last year.
.........
Another bad year could affect the Guard's ability to fully staff some units. Lt. Gen. Steve Blum, the Guard's top commander, announced earlier this year that the Guard will increase its recruiting force by adding 1,400 recruiters to augment the 2,700 on duty .

6. Gota go to the CHURCHES
I think they will increase their totals if they "play the game." Go to the Churches on Sunday. Both morning and night. And everyting in between. Become "friends" with the group. The church people can't stop them from coming.

What are they going to do.. Ask them NOT to wear their service uniform? But that wouldn't be supporting the troops!

28. Great idea!
Recruit in the headquarters of Jesusland. There is a kind of justice in injustice in that: these are the stiffs, after all, who support this godawful war. Let them put their halos on the line.

Onward, Christian soldiers!

23. Well....
Seeing as only 17% of the voters were aged 18-29 (Granted there are SOME duties in the military you can sign up for at 30+, but the things they'll take "older" people for fall off pretty quick) and only 45% of those people (gosh, I wonder why...) voted for *...sounds to me like about 4.5 million people who voted for * are in a position to volunteer...

3. the reason that they ONLY missed last year by 7,000.
Is the Army has pulled in all delayed enlistments that were to go in, in 2005.

5. Missed by a third!
Thinking of it that way, woops! they are behind.

Gawd! Just what we need. More recruiters calling the house. I've got 2 sr girls. I've had them call here. From now on I'm just going to ask them if they had been to the local churches for recrutment possiblitys. And to tell them to have a "chat" with the local pastors about how important it is to serve ones country in GODS fight against the heathens.

7. Might explain why they contact my son
who is in his junior year of high school. Even after I filled out the forms not to release his information to others. Damn lying school system. Of course this is the same school that pulled guns and used German Shepherd's on poor students , so I shouldn't be surprised.

I did call the recruiters office listed on the letter and told them to take my child off their list. Ha, cats out of the bag. Made my little snide remark about how I couldn't imagine how they can do their job at this point in history. They weren't happy but neither was I.

I guess the recruiters are fearful that their behinds might be sent over to Iraq instead of a bunch of 18/19 year old kids.

15. Guess what gang? The Guard is effectively the same ...
as active duty the way the Bush cabal has used them. This means longer tours or indefinite tours for the deployed units. This will only get worse as manpower numbers go down and morale plummets. The military will either have to scale back operations or get people somewhere. The neocons hardly appear to be ready to scale back operations.

Now the part about getting people somewhere is a very interesting dilemma.

I'm a vet. Where are all the freepers ????????????

This website belonged to National Guard stationed at Camp Anaconda, Balad, Iraq. The person I know has been moved out. I don't know who remains there.

There used to be a lot of photographs, but the website has changed recently.

20. Another thought...
send all the church leaders to Iraq, send those who committed sexual abuse wearing priests clothing to Iraq. They all need to set an example of their preaching. As for those committing abuse, this is their sentence. I am sick over the Iraq mess.

On edit let me add that I'm in the Army Guard and the recruiter I know is way below his quota. The reason is obvious, "if I wanted to fight in Iraq, I would join the Regular Army".

22. Guess that's why we're using Israelis now -
It's NOT just that Americans learned Israeli tactics - Israel has forces in Falluja! Gee, do you think that will bother the Iraquis?

2 articles (with links) follow:

1 - What we've been told:

Officers at Fallujah were trained in Israeli urban warfare tactics

SPECIAL TO WORLD TRIBUNE.COM
Wednesday, November 10, 2004
BAGHDAD – The U.S. military has employed Israeli urban warfare tactics during the current invasion of the Iraqi city of Fallujah.

U.S. officials acknowledged that hundreds of officers have trained in Israel over the last two years in urban warfare and counter-insurgency. In September, scores of U.S. officers trained at the Adam urban warfare school northeast of Tel Aviv, a facility that contains a mock Arab village.

The U.S. officers trained in Israel relayed their expertise to the U.S. Army's Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, La. Over the last two years, the army center has increased the number of mock Arab villages from four to 18 and employed Arab speakers for urban warfare exercises.

Israel's Battle in Fallujah
Dar Al Hayat ^ | Rashid Khashana

Posted on 11/22/2004 4:33:27 PM PST by Shermy

It has become clear that Israel played a major role in the battle for Fallujah, despite the American concern to conceal this fact. What news leaked of officers, soldiers, and even rabbis of dual citizenships that took part in the battles, some of which were killed by the resistance's bullets, is only the tip of the iceberg. The killing of an Israeli officer in Fallujah exposed the existence of a large number officers, snipers, and paratroopers in Iraq. Based on Israeli press statistics, Israel currently has no fewer than 1,000 officers and soldiers scattered around the American units working in Iraq. In addition, 37 rabbis are operating within the American troops, which leads to believe that the real number is greater; since Ha'aretz admitted that others are concealing their Jewish identities, which makes them self-driven Israeli citizens. Currently, there is a recruitment campaign coinciding with the escalation of the operations in Iraq, which seeks to send further assistance there. Amongst these campaigns is the incitement of Rabbi Irving Elson in his latest speech given in New York to allocate further "Fighting Rabbis" and encourage them to enlist in the American forces, in addition to another rabbi's advisory stating that those killed in Fallujah are "martyrs."
