Falluja Rebels Had Enough Arms to Rule Iraq -U.S.
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 04:40 PM by Tab
NEAR FALLUJA, Iraq (Reuters) - Arab militants and insurgents who ruled the volatile city of Falluja before a U.S.-led offensive this month had enough weapons to take over all of Iraq, Marine officers said on Wednesday.

"We found enough weapons in Falluja for the insurgency to take over the whole country," Lieutenant Colonel Dan Wilson told a news conference at a U.S. base near the western city.
...
Since then U.S. Marines have been conducting exhausting and sometimes dangerous house-to-house searches for weapons caches in 50,000 buildings identified by the Americans in the city of about 350,000 people.

Wilson said the Marines were surprised by the number and range of weapons, from home-made flame throwers to surface-to-air missiles, found in a city that was seen as the backbone of a relentless insurgency.

Well, gee, Bush let them wait until after our "elections" to get their act together...

1. Is that is why we let them fortify for a year?

4. That's what happens when you invade a country
and then open the doors to all their weapon storage facilities. Bush just wanted to make sure the insurgents were well armed enough to put up a decent fight.

5. Guess what ...
they still do. All they have to do is wear the U.S. down. The Bushistas wanted America to have learned nothing from Vietnam, so we are repeating history.

7. Plenty more where that came from
I am sure the marines found a tiny fraction of what the resistance has. Furthermore, they will be continually re-supplied by all kinds of nations that have an interest in keeping the U.S. bogged down in a quagmire. It will all be quite stealthy, though.
