Bush Plans 'Warm and Fuzzy' Visit to Canada
OTTAWA (Reuters) - President Bush's visit to Canada next week is shaping up as one intended to be a softer sell to soothe troubled relations and avoid flashpoints that could end up taking over the news.

The White House has turned down an invitation from Prime Minister Paul Martin for Bush to address Parliament lest he be heckled as he was in Australia last year and as President Ronald Reagan was in the Canadian Parliament in 1987.

And Bush will spend the second half of his two-day trip visiting the Atlantic port city of Halifax, where he will be able to express appreciation for the hospitality of that city in welcoming diverted airliners on Sept. 11, 2001.

``It's not just trying to make it warm and fuzzy, although that's clearly part of it, but it's also not wanting it to be tainted by something negative ... that that doesn't become the visit,'' one U.S. official said.

Apparently he's heard about the demonstrations the good people of Halifax are planning for him!....This is hilarious to me...It's getting to the point where when he makes his visits to other countries, he will have to stay on Airforce one!....hahaha

8. official on skipping parliament: "frankly, we didn't want to be booed."
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 10:19 PM by Minstrel Boy
Bush to avoid Parliament

WASHINGTON (CP) - President George W. Bush will avoid a potentially hostile reception in Parliament and travel to Halifax next week after his first official trip to Ottawa, White House sources said Wednesday.

...

American officials involved in planning the trip were worried about a cranky audience on Parliament Hill, sources said.

"We didn't see the need and, frankly, we didn't want to be booed. There are other, better venues," said one U.S. official.
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2004/11/24/729087-cp.html

So, change of plans. Off to Halifax instead?

Lots of Bush haters out there too, boy-o.

He can run, but he can't etc...

17. He told the PM's assisstant, Scott Reid, that he had a "pretty face."
He didn't leave it at that, either. It went something like this:

"You got a pretty face. Yeah; you're a good looking fella. You got a real pretty face. Not like my Scott."

And I found this interesting about the meeting:

Prime Minister Martin confided later, as reported by The Globe and Mail's Lawrence Martin, that he was embarrassed and stunned at Bush's language: shifting in an instant between religious jargon and gross vulgarity.

the wrongful deaths of two Nova Scotia soldiers bombed by flying cowboys? maybe he is coming to apologize?

I think it is far away from the activist cores in BC, Ontario & Quebec that he thinks it would be safe.

ironically an NS redneck MLA recently wrote George congratulating him on his win and asked him nicely to reopen the border to cattle. Maybe he is coming to meet this like minded soul Brook Taylor, hehheh

47. to change avatar
just click on the beaver avatar, drag it to your desktop (or right click save file as)

you will get a 133951.gif on your desktop

then
in your options for choosing an avatar click on upload custom avatar (your own)
then select gif file format and in the browse menu find the 11351.gif file on your desktop.

upload it and save changes, real easy

you may need to hit refresh/reload afterwards to clear your old avatar from your browser's cache.

Personal Message (the stamp icon) me if you have troubles

it is a great place to visit, indeed.

I have so many pictures of it that they fill a shoebox.

Wonderful glass buildings with all sorts of reflections.

Bush will get scared out of his wits and become very confused as he sees all those reflections coming at him. May he have a visual hallucination and see evil portents in them all.

Should Canada indict Bush?
*I think the author is wrong about U.S, having current exemptions for war crimes. That ran out, and it wasn't extended.
I'm sure we could help out with the list.

Think half the nation would get the picture if it's impossible for this administration to leave the country for fear of arrest?
