Blair's ring of steel fails to stop protesters
Hundreds of heavily-armed police and security forces guarded the area around Whitehall during the Queen's Speech on Tuesday, but anit-war protestors maanged to break the cordon.

ANTI-WAR protesters made a mockery of Tony Blair’s key election pledge of security by bursting into a government building just minutes after the Queen had announced new measures to tackle terrorism, it emerged yesterday.

As the whole of Whitehall bristled with armed police, three women and a man by-passed supposedly impenetrable security to gain access to the Cabinet Office, which has a direct underground link to No 10 Downing Street, on Tuesday afternoon. The breach is the latest security blunder to hit the government. In May, protesters threw flour bombs at the Prime Minister as he stood at the dispatch box.

Ironically, Peter Hain, the leader of the Commons, claimed a few hours after the Queen’s Speech that the threat of terrorist attack was significantly lower under Labour, a suggestion which caused a furious row and left him accused of playing politics with national security.

1. I've been wondering about that happening in the US.
Just get so many people into DC during the coronation and swamp the bastards.

2. Find a peaceful way to protest
There is a turn your back on bush movement.

Bushie is well guarded -- and additional bad assed guards will be added -- who will just love to kill a few peace-niks. Some cops will use this excuse to murder protesters -- because they know that they will get away with murder.

There will also be infiltrators who will urge violence -- they are probably cops -- remember Fahrenheit 911 -- and the under cover cop who was spying on a peace group???? These guys are pure evil -- they want to encourage violence.

The bad guys want violence -- they understand violence -- they don't understand peaceful protests.

I love the idea of thousands turning their backs on bush -- having a gigantic shun-in -- shun the illegal, illegitimate bastard.

3. Hell, the White House all those public buildings, we have as much right to
occupy them as those bastards. They are nothing but an occupying power. Scum of the earth.

5. You are so right.
Those are OUR buildings. We talk about the govt as if it were a 'other' entity, but they really are us... they are ours; we must occupy them. God, I am so ready to take my country back -- more so than even before the election.

8. "Those who make peaceful resistance impossible....
make violent resistance inevitable".

I heard that somewhere and it keeps popping up in my mind lately. But violent opposition is wrought with problems. I just keep thinking of what happened in the French Revolution and worry the same thing would happen here--a reign of terror.

4. The moral of the story is:
a ring of steel does not have the strength of a ring of truth.

6. I love your analogy
O! That Bush would only see it. He would run away from it like one who had seen a ghost!

7. Deep in his tiny, cold and flinty heart, bu$h knows.
It shows in his Reptile face every time he is forced to appear in public: They hate me. They really, really HATE me. Now watch this drive.
