Bush demands thousands more spies for CIA
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Big News Network.com Thursday 25th November, 2004

U.S. President George Bush has ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to hire and train thousands of new spies, the Washington Post said Wednesday.

The directive to CIA Director Porter Goss instructed him to increase by 50 percent the number of qualified CIA clandestine operatives and intelligence analysts
more...

Lets see 4500 an increase of 2250 that would mean Bush wouldhave hired over a 1/3 of the CIA agents!!! His own private army!!!

Hope the pay is good!!!

2. When this finally shakes out...
... I think you'll find that a fair number of these "new" agents and analysts will be coming from private security firms. The CIA actually has quite a bit of privatization money on hand, and there are reports of headhunters from outsourcing firms recruiting people in the CIA parking lot.

My guess is that this will turn out to be yet another privatization scheme, where security firms will provide ex-soldiers with infiltration experience to do a lot more overthrowing of governments--particularly in Africa.

In that sense, you may be right about a private army....

23. Will have to look for the article mentioning it...
... but as for dollar amounts, that isn't available--unless you're a head of a congressional oversight committee. Virtually all intelligence budget details are classified.

There has to be quite a bit of money available, since quite a few analysts have been induced to quit the agency, hire on with a private contractor, and then return to their very same job, at about double their previous government salary.

18. It won't work.

Associating a freeper with anything labelled "intelligence" violates at least 15 known laws of physics. :)

10. In with the new, out with the old
They'll be cleaning out the analysts. That's the real object of this. The operators have supported the most right wing policy objectives regardless of administration.

19. Let's remember a couple things about the man now in charge of CIA
"Goss Goss himself is a former spy who worked in Latin America in the 60's."

"Rep. Porter Goss , President Bushs nominee to head the CIA, recently introduced legislation that would give the president new authority to direct CIA agents to conduct law- enforcement operations inside the United States including arresting American citizens."

The CIA is a secret organization and Goss wants it to conduct law enforcement. That is a secret police.

Combined with the attempts to create mass domestic surveillance, i.e. Iran-Contra felon John Poindexter's TIA (quietly handed to the NSA after being independantly defunded) and the state- by-state programs called MATRIX and things don't look good.

20. Yes a Police State!!! But Woe to the person hired by these men
Men like Goss don't care if any of the recruits live or Die just as long as they do Goss and Bush's bidding!!!

Its a total cleaning of house and a Secret Police!!! The good News is these men are incompetent and no not what the hell they are doing!!!

and they are Mercenaries mostly so they can switch sides very easily!!!

Look at Chalabi!!!

22. Think CHAOS part deux; a blast from the past.
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 06:09 PM by Gyre
"In 1972, the CIA's Inspector General wrote a report that expressed concern about Operation CHAOS in the following way: "... we also encountered general concern over what appeared to be a monitoring of the political views and activities of Americans not known to be or suspected of being involved in espionage ... Stations were asked to report on the whereabouts and activities of prominent persons ... whose comings and goings were not only in the public domain, but for whom allegations of subversion seemed sufficiently nebulous to raise renewed doubts as to the nature and legitimacy of the CHAOS program."
