Car bomb blast in Iraqi city wounds 10 (Sammarra)
SAMARRA, Iraq (AFP) - At least 10 people, six of them police officers, were wounded in the restive Iraqi city of Samarra when a car bomb exploded as a joint US-Iraqi military patrol was passing.

"Four civilians and six police officers were wounded today in the explosion of a booby-trapped car... in central Samarra," police Lieutenant Colonel Salah Hassan Ali told AFP on Thursday.

The city north of Baghdad was the target of a major anti-insurgent operation by US-led forces in early October.

SAMARRA, Iraq (AFP) - Two people were killed and 13 wounded in two car bombings, one of them a suicide attack, in the restive Iraqi city of Samarra, police and hospital officials said.

"We received two bodies completely burned and 13 wounded, six of them from the police and seven civilians," said a doctor at the city's general hospital, referring to a first car bomb which police said exploded as a joint US-Iraqi military patrol was passing.

The second attack a short time later in the west of the city was on a police station but claimed no victims except the suicide bomber, police said.

Samarra, about 120 kilometres (80 miles) north of Baghdad, was the target of a major anti-insurgent operation by US-led forces in early October.
