"Taiwan Province' not needed, Chen Says
by Debbie Wu & Wang Hsiia-wen:

<http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/front/archives/2004/11/28/2003212842>

"The president called for the abolishment of 'Taiwan Province' at a rally last night, saying that the administrative level of government was unnecessary."

" ...adding that the government will strive to implement reforms, including halving the number of ministries, legislative seats, terms of military service and land capital gain tax."

That's an awful lot of ambition in one breath. And this goes along-side more bold moves on the weapons purchasing front.

Reforming away from 'red tape' bureaucracy is a great idea. Blowing smoke in China's face may prove not to be all that progressive in the long run.

Ah-bien needs to pace himself. Where's the fire?
