Venezuela’s Chavez arrives in Tehran
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 01:41 PM by bemildred
This is completely unimportant, pay no attention at all.
I especially like the "Expediency Council". I wonder what they do?

TEHRAN (MNA) -– Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived in Tehran last night. Chavez is going to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments with Iranian officials, the Mehr News Agency reported late Saturday.

Chavez is scheduled to meet President Mohamad Khatami, Expediency Council Chairman Hashemi Rafsanjani, Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi, and Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel in his Iran’s stay.

In his tour abroad Chavez has already visited Spain, Libya, and Russia. He plans to visit Qater after Iran.

2. He's visiting OPEC nations (Libya, Russia, Iran, Qatar...)
He has done this before and the western press always pretends he's consorting with terrorists.

3. So sad, their predictable rush to bend the truth, isn't it?
Eternally, the only people who are o.k. are o.k. ONLY when our Republicans tell us they are o.k.

Otherwise, they are all "of the devil." We should give them our e-mail addresses so they can inform us who's "in," & we don't inadvertantly accept someone they have decided they don't like for reasons only they need to know.

8. I don't think he's going to find a lot of Freedom
in Iran and North Korea.
I'm a big support of Chavez but I'm just saying. These are the kind of geostrategic dealings with oppressive countries that I don't like from our own leaders. I understand why he sees it as necessary given Bush Co.'s efforts to kill him and to rule the world. Still it is distasteful at best.

10. In the post I was responding to.
I understand what Chavez is doing. It is part of his job really. And, you are right, the press tends to twist these visits into something they are not.

It is smart and necessary for him to diversify his country's diplomatic and economic relationships. I just didn't understand the freedom and justice reference in the post I was responding to. Iran is no friend to progressives. I think it kind of sucks to see a good guy like Chavez have to turn to repressive regimes to get support for blocking a more immanent threat to the world ... the US.

11. Let me try to explain....
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 05:11 PM by alexisfree
In high school we had a group of bullies, then we had other groups like the Latinos, Blacks, Asians, and preppies, the Goths etc. You always have different groups who believe differently however everyone wants peace they just all want to make it through the 4 years of high school. However when a group is being picked on ( for this example we will say the Asians).... Wouldn’t it be in the best interest for the Asians to form an alliance with the blacks and Latinos so they can have a bigger alliance????This new alliance will show the bullies that they will not be harassed anymore? Just my thoughts. Remember their was a time when we thought the russians were bad and now they are our allias. Everyone is good just because we have diffrent believes don't make 1 person right over another..(isn't this the same strategy we tried to use to get Kerry elected, get young, old, minorities, man, women to vote for kerry to unseat a bully)

12. Oops. Sorry. I thought you thought he was visiting NK on this trip.
It looks like he's just hitting Spain and the oil producing countries because VZ's an OPEC member.

It seems like he's been making this trip every year.

I hope he talks those other countries into using oil profits the same way he's using them.

14. I'd Love to see VZ (Hugo) on the U.N. Security Council!
As rotating chair or permanent seat.

The 3rd world needs another a permanent seat on the Council and a Country like VZ and Hugo would be a good choice.
