World biggest missilemaker shapes future Raytheon sees new form warefare
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 02:39 PM by seemslikeadream

By David Wichner, ARIZONA DAILY STAR

TUCSON, Ariz. — Scientists and engineers at Raytheon Missile Systems — the world's biggest missile-making operation — are shaping the future of warfare.
It's a future of remote-control combat, where land battles may be fought with swarms of toy-sized unmanned aircraft and missiles that "talk" amongst themselves to coordinate attacks on fast-moving enemy forces.

It's a future where even artillery shells will become satellite-guided "smart bombs" capable of hitting within a few feet of targets 40 miles away.

Raytheon, the fifth-largest U.S. defense contractor, is a key player in the effort to transform the U.S. military from a Cold War force of mass-scale warfare into a high-tech network of intelligent weapons and forces, able to hunt down and destroy an increasingly elusive enemy.

"These are things that people said couldn't be done," said Ken Pedersen, vice president of advanced programs for Raytheon Missile Systems. "But you're going to see this happen."

1. And herein lies the end of life as we know it...
These people are insane.
This is what the Hopi prophecies
warn of. A path to chaos due to
a development of technology that
is out of harmony with the mother earth.
I am beginning to believe we will see annihilation
in our life times.
Live well today.

3. Let me just say this...
I predict a lot of bad stuff based on fact. I'm good at it. A lot of what's happened in Iraq, I saw coming long, long ago. But I do not hope for bad things to happen so I can have my schadenfraude. Too many people hold on to belief in calamity in the religious hope that society will suffer. Too many people will never compete with red state republicans for God because their God is money and the only enduring morality is distribution of that money. Being shallow enough to not just believe in annihilation, but to use the prospect of annihilation as a reassuring prospect, just makes what Rush Limbaugh used to say about liberals seem credible.

Just had to mention this because, this prophecy of doom stuff is really getting to me lately. Especially after this election. You're still alive, people. Act like it.

6. Are you saying I am hoping for annihilation?
Because that is certainly not what I said.
I study ancient writings of many cultures and
it is frankly astounding how similar they all are
in regards to the people of the earth having a
choice to make concerning the well being of the
planet. If you have ever read any of the Hopi
writings you too would be rather alarmed at
the way we are resembling the path to chaos
in our development and use of technology.
I am not so narrow minded to limit my view of
the world to what anglo-academic empirical
data would have us think about it.
As far as I can see, that is EXACTLY what got us
into this mess. I happen to believe the ancient
wisdom of NON-anglo academic teachers might
be more accurate and the only way out of this
situation.

8. Thomas Banyacya: December 10, 1992 (Hopi address to the UN)
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 03:54 PM by BeHereNow
I am copying this post from another thread:
Saracat in GD asking if others are sensing that
something is terribly wrong- Bayancya would say
that we are finally hearing what mother earth has
been trying to tell us. The article on this thread
portrays what we were warned of in this speech.
Technology out of harmony will result in chaos.
I think the weaponry described by the Rayethon
person fits the recipe for unintentional chaos or
annihilation. but what would an old Hopi elder know, eh?
BHN

The following are excerpts from a speech
delivered by Hopi Elder Thomas Banyacya-

"For many years there has been great fear and danger of
World War Three. The Hopi believe the Persian Gulf War was
the beginning of World War Three but it was stopped and
the worst weapons of destruction were not used. This is now
a time to weigh the choices for our future. We do have a
choice. If you, the nations of this Earth, create another great
war, the Hopi believe we humans will burn ourselves to
death with ashes. That's why the spiritual Elders stress
strongly that the United Nations fully open the door for
native spiritual leaders as soon as possible."

"Nature, the First People and the spirit of our ancestors are
giving you loud warnings. Today, December 10, 1992, you
see increasing floods, more damaging hurricanes, hail
storms, climate changes and earthquakes as our
prophesies said would come. Even animals and birds are
warning us with strange change in their behavior such as
the beaching of whales. Why do animals act like they know
about the earth's problems and most humans act like they
know nothing? If we humans do not wake up to the
warnings, the great purification will come to destroy this
world just as the previous worlds were destroyed."

"This rock drawing shows part of the Hopi prophecy. There
are two paths. The first with technology but separate from
natural and spiritual law leads to these jagged lines
representing chaos. The lower path is one that remains in
harmony with natural law. Here we see a line that
represents a choice like a bridge joining the paths. If we
return to spiritual harmony and live from our hearts, we can
experience a paradise in this world. If we continue only on
this upper path, we will come to destruction.

Its up to all of us, as children of Mother Earth, to clean up
this mess before it's too late."

11. Have the Hopi spoken since Dec 10, 1992?
..If yes, how recently, what was their message and is there a link(s)?

12. Do a search on Banyacya...
and on Hopi prophecy.
The links are endless.
Here is a good start on Banyacya:

9. You're giving western culture too much damn credit.
It's not going to achieve reducing wars to walks in the park. Technology isn't powerful enough to overcome the pathetic humans directing it.

You're hoping that only Hopi culture can save mankind to a degree that goes well beyond any logical estimation of current trends. Maybe you're right, but you can't prove it on the basis of pencil pusher PR from an arms company. Keep in mind these companies are some of the most massive wastes of good money (and therefore resources) on earth. Their sheer inefficiency will keep the world surviving a little longer.

10. Pathetic humans directing it...
...are exactly the point-
I think the variables for a "mistake" strike go way up
with these people in charge of this sort of technology.
It is not just the Hopi who teach salvation of the earth
through a return to harmony with the laws of nature,
the teaching is consistent throughout MANY ancient
writings/teachings. I prefer it to the path we are on,
that's for certain.

5. Super whizz bang technology vs. Iraqi insurgents
Not doing too well. Precision targeting killing a lot of civilians. Ground troops still have to get up close and personal with the subjects who are killing them back.

The ever present predictions of war technology that is going to relieve men of the necessity of a messy butchery has been touted in Aviation Week since Christ was a corporal.

13. Hopi Prophecy and Boondoogle aside...
I am struck by the

"high-tech network of intelligent weapons and forces, able to hunt down and destroy an increasingly elusive enemy."

The enemy isn't that elusive really; they release videos and proclamations to the media all the time..."WE are going to kill you, if you don't conform to our will"

You can decide which party is doing the threatening for yourself...

BUT...

Will 'toy-sized' unmanned kill machines (based no doubt on the superperflous teddy bear in Spielberg's silly AI) help track down such villians as OBL, Al-Zawqari or the Anthrax killer...(or the various other criminals that annoy us)?

And what does 'puff ad' press releases on a slow news day from Raytheon have to do with Hopi indians?

14. For you, nothing.
"And what does 'puff ad' press releases on a slow news day from Raytheon have to do with Hopi
indians?"
A person's understanding of the world is limited
by their consciousness of it. American's are not exactly
known for their ability to view the world in anything
other than their own perspective, which is of course
the only right one.
It's the American way!
Carry on-
