Bush 'ready to aid peace talks' (Sunday Ireland Update)
Edited on Sun Nov-28-04 06:42 PM by khephra
(First up: Gerry Adams' version)

US President George W Bush was tonight told his help might be needed to seal a deal in talks to revive devolution in Northern Ireland.

Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams confirmed tonight that he was contacted by Mr Bush, two days after the President phoned Democratic Unionist leader, the Rev Ian Paisley.

snip........

“I briefed the President on Sinn Fein’s two objectives in the current negotiations.

“These are to get the DUP on board for an agreement and to ensure that the British Government’s position remains faithful to the power sharing, equality based and all Ireland institutions contained in the Good Friday Agreement.

“I told him that we may need help at the White House to deliver these requirements.”

(NOW THE BUSH VERSION)

Bush Phones Sinn Fein to Back N.Ireland Peace Plan

LONDON (Reuters) - President Bush rang Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams on Sunday to try to help clinch a peace deal in Northern Ireland, as the party said it would hold unprecedented talks with the province's police chief.

The White House said Bush spoke to Adams, whose party is the political ally of the Irish Republican Army (IRA), from Air Force One as he traveled back to Washington after spending the Thanksgiving holiday on his ranch in Crawford, Texas.

"The president expressed his support for the peace process and the agreement proposed by (British Prime Minister Tony) Blair and (Irish Prime Minister Bertie) Ahern," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan.

"The president called on Mr Adams to help provide the leadership to move this process forward," he told reporters.

1. The image of Shrub
being a peacemaker is as hard to comprehend as the idea that space just goes on and on without end.

17. Notice, Bush called them. I wouldn't want his help with anything!
Look what his help has done to Iraq. Bush just wants to follow in Clinton's footsteps and to try to find one nation whose people might like and respect him...but ain't going to happen!

2. george w. bullshit, savior, freedom fighter, and compassionate xtian.
Why, when the someone finally gets around to telling the truth of any and all situations does it end up that the bush* bots lied again.

The biggest things that pop into my mind (other than the obvious Iraq fiasco) are the stories they told about the British almost discovering his 'secret surprise' visit to Iraq for Thanksgiving and the big whopper on 9/11 that bush* had to hide out because the terrorists had discovered some kind of secret coordinates or codes for Air Force One.

Of course, there's the rest of his life ('I served honorably', buy Harken, and on and on and on).

If he was Pinochio, his nose would be a bridge from here to planet Mars.

3. Was there a war in Ireland?
I must have missed it. It seems, in order to compete with Clinton, perhaps seek a Noble Peace prize for his efforts in the wartorn nation of Ireland and wear the mantle of a peace seeking man, he has resurrected a war where there is no war.

Shouldn't he be somewhere in the IP conflict, trying to establish peace in a place where there is real conflict?

6. The bush mantra/doctrine/mandate:
if at first you don't succeed, fail, fail and fail again!

Geez, * incompetence at war, * incompetence at peace making, bush is only fit to serve as a movie reviewer or journalist!

16. And in backward world that's a heads up to Ireland
you're headed for nuclear war. This dumb fuck, the last time he was in Ireland, was interviewed and was asked to name democracies in the Middle East. Anyone see this on BBC? (not on our whore media) He named Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan, (last two in his dreams)and ...Pakistan. Pakistan,..didn't apparently know he was dealing with a general who staged a military coup.

Luck of the Irish? Not after he finishes with them.
